spaceships and egg drop soup Thursday

i was so happy the weather got nice today! sunshine, good food, arts and crafts day... ahhh. also I took the camera to our cafeteria... it's a little small, but all the food is made by the sweetest lady in the world, sometimes she gives me potatoe and pumpkin fries to take back to school with me for an afternoon snack cause she knows how much I like them, but today it was bananas. yum!! also i got to experience her famous egg drop soup today... truly "seoul" lifting.

allison and patrick digging in

fresh egg drop

after lunch was arts and crafts. i did have two absents today so not everyone got to make drawings, but my kids made sure that everyone had an origami spaceship for their book even if they weren't there.

my kids love this day. i think they could all color for an entire day if i let them... good thing we're ahead in phonics and math, special parents day craft designed by yours truly next week!!!
[yrs are in US]

john (5yrs), annie (6yrs), jin (6yrs), leo (6yrs)

sitting and asking super smart 5/6 yr olds about space is awesome...

jin, finished (who also just recently got new glasses) told me
" teacher, our glasses", he points "same!?"... cutie patootie

john, my small shy boy, who loves/wants a million power rangers in space, obviously

a rambunctious young lady who can tough it with the boys but acts like a princess

don't let this picture fool you, leo gets in his fair share of trouble
but clearly knows where to go with rocket ships!

what a good week imo. everyone is getting much better and we're even ahead in the curriculum! tomorrow is Friday and no one is hanging around late, we have birthday celebrations, a concert, art galleries and bazaars to go to this weekend, plus I got $50 from school to spend as I want! yey!

baseball: twins vs. eagles

food stands outside selling dried squid, kim-bop, and colas

Introducing Eagles Cheer: Foxy 1 and 2.
They totally threw me off.
Didn't ever really think to put a cheer team and baseball together...
Korean's, team spirit, foxy ladies and baseball.

Mr. Pep, for the Eagles.
Besides his annoying whistle I think he was peppier than the twins Mr. Pep.

 Crowd favorite...
I wonder why? 5' 10" Korean Foxy Cheer Girl, every man said yes, please.

The Twins Mr. Pep (Home Team)

Bigger Stage for the HT...

caught these two playing just outside the seating... cute headbands

men like them also...

he played this for almost the whole game... hmmmm

Ahh... so the HT mascot was so funny because he
was boozing the whole time (check out his hand). Understandable.

One more of the crowd favorite... for the boys.

I had a fantastic weekend even though I've been pretty sick lately. Terrence and I went to language lessons together on Saturday, I left my camera at home, but ended up exploring a good chunk of my base area while getting some shopping done for my apartment. Really just tried to take it easy and get better since the weather certainly won't be helping... mostly rain lately.

Then on Sunday some co-workers and I went out to a baseball game. I think I can distinctly remember at most three or four baseball games in the US so experiencing this was a pretty good time. I ate fried cuttle fish and enjoyed a short performance by a k-pop group, plus some pretty foxy cheerleaders kept everyone entertained through out a mostly stalemated game. In the end though the Twins were victorious, just when we though we would be staying past the 9th... two home runs back to back... Great Job!

Where the Magic Happens

L.C.I. Kids Club English Academy: Third Floor - 5 Min walk from my Apt.

Teacher's Office - My desk has the green coat... but it seems everyone wore green

Morning Kindergarten (counter clockwise above from red argyle): Jin, John, Annie, Dana (no longer in English class, she's moved to full-time Korean School), Leo and Andy

Having never taught in my life, I am suddenly thrown into a Kindergarten Classroom of my very own! I am able to decorate, experiment and just in general teach of my accord, as long as it uses their books. I'm clueless as to how this is all done, but at the same time I feel a little bit natural in the position, I bet with some research and copying of ideas I can produce a functioning classroom by the end of the month. I'm working on the walls and some simple learning activities for morning MAT time this week. Words Cards, Manners, Days of the Week, the Months and Line Leader type things. Everything from my own Kinder Experience is coming back to me, and I'm just drawing on it to form a classroom... I can't believe I'm remembering this stuff!!! Stars for good Behavior = Stickers on the Sticker sheet which = Prizes from the front Desk, yeah... that kind of stuff. But, I have to remember, this is just a private hag-won school... am I really a teacher?

LCI Office Olympics: Week 1

I'm pretty lucky to have gotten dropped into a group of 8 people who like living life pretty similar to myself. We're all pretty goofy in our own ways, and we all like to fill our days living life, meeting people and learning life in Seoul. Collaborative Office Olympics. One night a week for four weeks we get together and compete against each other for the grand prize of dinner and a drink, bought by the losing teams. So the furious 9 of L.C.I Academy are known as follows:

Team 1: Patrick, Terrence and Mary
Team 2: Megan, Emily and Allison
Kim-chi Killaz (the noobs at LCI were the only ones who thought it necessary to have a team name): David, Caryn and Me

Going Clockwise from the bottom:
David (just the top of his head), Patrick, Emily, Mary, Terrence, Caryn (red), Allison (blue) and Megan.

Terrence and Megan hosted the first night's games in their apartment. Each team has their choice of games each week. Team 1/ First week chose:

Boggle (four lightening rounds), Wii Mario (as many rounds as it takes for boggle to be done) and Texas Hold'em Poker (everyone plays and dealer has the banana). Also...

 Snack Time!!

Recycle Please

<---- Plastic (green) ---- Paper (pink) ---- Cans/ Bottles (blue) ---->

However, not only do I separate all this downstairs near our trash bins, I also must separate my misc. trash from food trash (special green plastic bags, please and thank you), no garbage disposals. I have a catch in my sink that I have to empty all the time!!! I love all this... after just a little bit it will all be second nature. Thanks to Shannan it was almost there already.
